Oklahoma Tornado: 7 Urgent Prayer Topics for Victims and Recovery

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble; the LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress" (Psalm 46:1; 46:7).

All of our hearts are breaking seeing the devastation that has taken place across Oklahoma. Let our hearts and prayers go out to all who were affected by the tornadoes. Please join us in praying for the victims in Oklahoma. Let's pray as we would want others to pray for us in that situation.

Here are 7 urgent prayer topics for victims and recovery:

1. Pray for all the people who lost their home or family.

Pray for those there with broken hearts. Pray for comfort, strength, and healing for all who are suffering in Oklahoma. Ask God to help them in their time of grief and mourning. At least 91 people have been confirmed dead, 20 of them children, and countless families have been affected by the vast tornado. Pray for all those who have lost family members & children in Oklahoma.

2. Pray for emergency relief teams and relief effort in Oklahoma.

Besides removing tree limbs and searching for survivors, the disaster relief teams will provide hot meals to people that lack electricity. Power company personnel will be working to restore electricity in areas that have downed power lines. Pray for the safety of these teams as they work in dangerous conditions.

3. Please pray for all the missing children trapped in the rubble!

Pray for the children who will be afraid at school every time there is a storm. Pray for the children trapped in the rubble of schools. Pray for rescue workers to reach any kids still alive in time. May God show mercy. Please pray for those families that are missing or won't ever be able to see their precious children again. Parents are never prepared for the unimaginable pain of losing a child.

4. Pray for Homeless and displaced people to find a new place.

Pray for the people that must find a new place to live and remember the people whose homes were destroyed. Pray that exposure to germs will be minimal and people that are ill from contaminated water will heal quickly.

5. Pray for the churches and pastors in the areas who will be called upon for hope and help.

Pray that congregations will work together and grow closer as families and communities rebuild. Some people that do not know Jesus as Savior may have the opportunity to hear the gospel during this time. Ask God to send the Holy Spirit to prepare people's heart to be receptive to the Gospel. Pray for opportunities to share hope with people, in the midst of tragedy.

6. Pray for donations and resources needed to survive and eventually rebuild and recovery.

Praying for healing, recovery, shelter, food, clean water, resources and finances. Pray for the rescue and recovery efforts and for the counselors to help the families down there. Pray for the fast and full recovery of all the victims physically and more importantly mentally in Oklahoma. May God give them strength to get through this tragedy.

7. Pray for the suicidal people and businesses that were struggling financially.

Some people will feel trapped by their circumstances. Pray for Christians to show them the love of Christ and for the Holy Spirit to be a safety net for these victims. Also Some people may lose their jobs because of the damage from the massive tornado. Ask God to look after people that will become unemployed as result of this disaster.
