Dr. Mack King Carter, former senior pastor of a 10,000-member congregation in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died Wednesday at the age of 66.

The pastor of New Mount Olive Baptist was considered to be one of the state’s most beloved ministers. His passing was reported on the church’s website.

“Today, God has called one of our great prophetic leaders home to be with Him in glory. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Pastor Emeritus, Dr. Mack King Carter.”

“We would like to keep First Lady Emeritus Patricia Carter, the Carter family, and New Mount Olive Baptist Church in prayer.”

His successor, Rev. Marcus D. Davidson has thanked God for prayers for the church and Carter family, according to pastor Robert Earl Houston website.

“On yesterday, the last moments we spent together will never be forgotten. I am humbly grateful for a church that was able to love both of us and treat both of us with respect. No one will ever know how much this man meant to me as a man and pastor. Though our time together was brief, God gave me a Paul, and I was glad to be his Timothy. I will miss him so much, so please keep praying for me.”

Dr. Carter is revived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia A. Thomas Carter; aughters Annalisa Robinson-Melton and Pamela Latrice Johnson; and grandchildren Brittany N. Robinson and Carter Nathaniel Johnson.
