MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA — While driving with his 70-year-old neighbor Alfred Smith last week, 10-year-old Christopher wheeler found himself in a terrifying situation.
According to NBC affiliate WSFA, Smith began suffering from a diabetic attack while driving on the Interstate 65 at noon last Thursday. But rather than panicking, the brave Christopher took control of the car and steered it to a stop on the side of the highway.
A state trooper had been following the car and gave the driver something to eat as emergency responders arrived. Smith was taken hospital where he was said to be in good condition last Friday, WSFA reported.
Authorities say Christopher’s actions may have saved not only his life and Smith’s, but those of other drivers as well.
