Billy Graham: What’s the Center of Your Life?

Q:

By the time you get this Christmas will be long gone, but this year it left me with an empty feeling I can't explain. I enjoyed being with family and all that, but all the talk about joy and peace just seems to be empty talk. What was I missing?

A:

Have you ever asked yourself why we celebrate Christmas every year (as we did just a few weeks ago)? We celebrate Christmas for one reason: to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ over two thousand years ago. Was He the one who was missing from your Christmas? I suspect so.

Think about it: Why do we even celebrate Jesus' birth? Is it because He was a great religious leader, or because His teachings have influenced millions? Is it because of the positive impact His followers have had across the world? Or do we celebrate His birth because we hope His message of peace and forgiveness will make the world a better place?

All of these are true, of course-but we actually celebrate Jesus' birth for a much deeper reason. We celebrate it because He alone was God in human flesh, sent from Heaven to take away our sins and give us hope for the future. To put it another way, Jesus Christ came into the world to bring us back to God. Because of Him, the Bible says, "we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1).

Make Christ the center and the foundation of your life-not just once a year, but every day. Why not invite Him to come into your life today? He'll not only forgive you and cleanse you of all your sins, but you'll become His child forever. "In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind" (John 1:4).

Make Christ the center of your life today.
