The “Duck Dynasty” family is in a new documentary by the Christian ministry “I Am Second” revealing dark past with infidelity and alcohol struggles before fame.

The Patriarch, Phil Robertson, opened up about how alcohol and infidelity almost broke them apart.

“I got in a barroom brawl, the laws got after me. I went to the woods, of course,” Phil shared in the dramatic interview, according to ABC News.

His wife Kay said his drinking habits got worse and he was running around her. “And what I would tell my boys all the time is, ‘That’s not your daddy. That’s the devil in your daddy.’”

“I’ve been fighting for this marriage for long time and is not working,” said Kay.

But their lives changed when the family converted to Christ with the help of a pastor. Kay convinced Phil to meet with a pastor when things seemed without a solution.

After that things just got better and their blessings also extended to their business. Phil’s duck call, the Duck Commander, made his family multimillionaire and now it has turned into a popular reality show.

Phil credits all success to God.

“We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

The Robertson family story is told through the lens of Phil, Kay, Jep and Reed. “The Robertsons” documentary premieres Thursday, November 21 on the site
